WHAT IS JMS COMPLETE BODY STRETCH?

During a Complete Body Stretch session we use age-old techniques that are being discovered by many people as an effective and comfortable way to get the necessary stretching that we all need. Sometimes called yoga massage, assisted yoga and assorted other names, our JMS Complete Body Stretch uses passive-assisted stretching, where therapists assist recipients to move into their stretch. Our Complete Body Stretch encourages recipients to reach their edge of flexibility, but doesn’t exceed the recipient’s comfort level. The work is purposely slow as the therapist guides clients through the stretching movements, while being aware of their physical limits. The combination of movements, stretches and acupressure during a session provides a relaxing yet invigorating session of energy work and tissue rejuvenation.

The Complete Body Stretching movements we incorporate affect the recipient’s entire body by improving flexibility, releasing both superficial and deep muscular tension, and providing deep relaxation with quieting of the mind.. The effect of the stretching is similar to yoga. The result leaves the recipient feeling both relaxed and energized at the same time.

HOW IS THE COMPLETE BODY STRETCH PERFORMED?

This stretch session is normally performed on a soft floor mat rather than a raised massage table. This allows for many movements and procedures that are not practical or effective in table work. It allows for the most effective use of the practitioner’s body weight. Pillows and bolsters may be used for better support. The client remains fully clothed except for the feet. Clothing should be light, comfortable and allow for flexible movement and deep stretching.

The work itself consists primarily of pressure on energy lines and points, and a large variety of stretching movements. Pressure is exerted with the therapist’s hand, feet, knees, elbows and legs to facilitate the process. The pressure and stretching movements are combined in a comprehensive strategy. No oil is used during these sessions.
